Ishiguro siempre me sorprende. En los libros que he leído, no ha sido un amor a primera página, sino más bien un gusto adquirido. Se van desarrollando y de repente, puede ser en la página 70 o en la 150, pasa de ser un libro promedio a una historia maravillosa. En este se demoró más, me costaba. Después de terminarlo creo que me sentía como los protagonistas en un recorrido pesado, cansado, no fluía tanto como me gustaría, igual que el viaje que va relatando. Pero otra vez, cerca del final, pasa a ser una historia maravillosa y todo tiene sentido. Cerca del final, cuando el viaje comienza a terminarse, pasa de la pesadez del recorrido, las montañas empinadas, las largas caminatas, a la liviandad del claro, la tranquilidad del río. Y una vez más lo logra: reflexiones maravillosas que llegan casi sin pensarlo, como cuánto incide la memoria y sobre todo el olvido en las relaciones, o lo necesarios que son a veces los monstruos, para poder echarles la culpa de todos los males. Me acordé de Calvino, con El Caballero Inexistente, que también me encanta. Ishiguro es sin duda de mis preferidos.
